About the University of Idaho Peer Institutions
In addition to being land-grant universities, the University of Idaho's 17 peer institutions have a role and mission similar to UI. Criteria for selecting peers include student profiles, enrollment characteristics, total research expenditures, and academic disciplines and degrees. Our peer institutions have common strengths in agricultural sciences, engineering, arts and sciences, and business.
All of the institutions are located in the West or Great Plains and most are in rural areas. Eleven of the 12 are classified as Doctoral/Research Universities-Extensive by the Carnegie Foundation.
